Road Cleanup 2018

Road clearing day; this year we will meet up at Don Orr’s (#566A) at 9:00am July 7th (rain date is July 8th same time) to start clearing grass, weeds, brush and overhanging tree limbs from the roadway. Typically we finish up in about 2 hours or so depending on the number of participants. Bring along string trimmers, pruning shears, loppers or other tools that you might need.

Website 2.0

When I started this website, I used a service called “sitebuilder.com”. It was a really simple WYSIWYG editor interaface and hosting service. The cost at the time was very reasonable, $60 for a two year period. Then our 2 year plan expired and the site and domain registration costs shot way up. Way way up to almost $110/year. Then a domain registration fee of $60USD/year, which is 6x the cost that most folks pay.

Hydro One Vegitation Maintenance

Hydro One will be performing maintenance around and under the power transmission lines along our right-of-way road. This will include removal of brush, and dead or hazardous trees. Sappers and Miners Cemetery Restoration Dinner

The Sappers and Miners Cemetery in Newboro was established by the Royal Engineers in 1829 to provide burial plots for workers who died during the construction of the locks at the Isthmus (Newboro) and the cut through to Upper Rideau Lake. The committee sponsored a roast beef dinner to at the Newboro Community Hall on June 11. Thank you to the association members who contributed to the fund raising dinner in support of restoration of the Royal Sappers and Miners Cemetery at Newboro.
